Meet Adam
The cook, photographer, and chief taste-tester.
Hello! I’m Adam Kenji, and I’m so glad you’re here. This blog is my little corner of the internet, dedicated to delicious, reliable, and comforting recipes that I truly believe anyone can make.
My Story
My love for food wasn’t a-ha moment. It was a slow-simmering passion that started when I was a kid, standing on a kitchen stool next to my grandmother. Her kitchen was always warm, a little messy, and smelled incredible—like fresh bread, simmering tomato sauce, or the first apple pie of the fall. She taught me that food wasn’t just about *eating*, it was about *sharing* and *caring*.
But, like many people, I took the “sensible” path. I went to college, got a degree, and landed in an office job. For years, I lived in a world of spreadsheets and meetings. My kitchen was just… a place to make instant coffee.
I felt unfulfilled, and to cope, I started cooking again on weekends. I’d try to recreate my grandmother’s hearty stews or perfect a chocolate cake. The kitchen became my escape, my creative outlet. The more I cooked, the more I realized this is what I was meant to do.
So, I took a huge, terrifying leap. I left my corporate job to dedicate myself to food. Figorra.com was born from that leap, and it’s been the most rewarding journey of my life.
