  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.25 cups packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, then gradually add the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Drop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
