Ingredients

Orzo Pasta
  • 2 cups orzo pasta This small, rice-shaped pasta cooks quickly and absorbs flavors beautifully.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil A healthy fat that adds richness and helps cook the sausage.
  • 1 pound chicken sausage Choose your favorite flavor, whether it’s spicy, sweet, or mild.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh or frozen, broccoli adds a vibrant color and crunch.
  • 3 cloves garlic Minced garlic brings a wonderful aroma and depth of flavor.
  • 4 cups chicken broth This forms the base of the dish, adding moisture and taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning A blend of herbs that enhances the overall flavor profile.
  • salt and pepper Essential for seasoning and balancing flavors.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese This adds creaminess and a savory finish to the dish.
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley Chopped parsley is perfect for garnishing and adds a fresh touch.

Equipment

  • large pot

Method

  1. Prepare your ingredients by measuring out orzo pasta, slicing chicken sausage, and cutting broccoli into florets.
  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Add broccoli florets and cook for another 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add orzo and Italian seasoning, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once orzo is cooked and most liquid is absorbed, season with salt and pepper, remove from heat, and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.
