- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the diced tomatoes and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
- Lower the heat and add heavy cream and Italian seasoning. Simmer for about 5 minutes, then season with salt and pepper. Add the cooked penne pasta and toss to coat.
- Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese. Toss to combine and serve garnished with fresh basil leaves.
