Filling
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened for easy mixing
  • 1 cup lump crab meat drained and picked over for shells
  • 1/4 cup green onions finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 package (14 ounces) wonton wrappers
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • sweet and sour sauce for serving

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • deep skillet or pot
  • slotted spoon
  • baking sheet

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the lump crab meat. Add the finely chopped green onions, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Mix until well combined and creamy.
  2. Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the crab mixture in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold over to form a triangle, and press to seal.
  3. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F. Fry the bites in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Alternatively, bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes.
