Ingredients
  

Onion Rings
  • 1 large onion, sliced into thin rings
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • as needed cup vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Slice the onion into thin rings and soak in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Coat the soaked onion rings in the seasoned flour, then dip back into buttermilk and coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F and fry the onion rings for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels before serving warm.
