Ingredients

Pasta and Meat Base
  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • 9x13 inch baking dish

Method

  1. Prep your ingredients by measuring the macaroni, chopping the onion, and opening the canned ingredients.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat, then stir in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, garlic powder, chili powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture.
  3. Add the cooked elbow macaroni to the skillet and mix well. Transfer to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
  4. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
