Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cups whole milk warmed to about 110°F
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups fruit jam your choice, such as raspberry or strawberry
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Combine dry ingredients: flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F. Punch down the dough, roll out to 1/2 inch thick, and cut out donut shapes.
  5. Place cut donuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  6. Bake donuts for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool slightly, make an indentation in each donut, and fill with jam. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
