  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cloves, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in the eggs, orange zest, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  7. Drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
