Fresh Strawberries
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix 15.25-ounce
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened 8-ounce
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 0.25 cup powdered sugar for dusting, optional

Method
 

  1. Gather your ingredients: fresh strawberries, cake mix, cream cheese, sugar, butter, and extracts.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix softened cream cheese with granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth.
  4. Spread sliced strawberries in the bottom of the baking dish, then drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the strawberries.
  5. Sprinkle the dry vanilla cake mix evenly over the cream cheese layer without stirring.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top of the cake mix, covering as much as possible.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and set.
  8. Allow the cake to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
