Ingredients

Pretzel Twists
  • 2 cups pretzel twists These provide the crunchy base for your treat. You can use regular or gluten-free pretzels.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter This is the star of the toffee mixture, giving it a rich and creamy texture.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar This adds sweetness and a hint of caramel flavor to the toffee.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract A splash of vanilla enhances the overall flavor.
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips These melt beautifully on top, creating a luscious chocolate layer.
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts Nuts add a nice crunch and nutty flavor, but feel free to skip them if you prefer.
  • sea salt A pinch of sea salt on top elevates the sweet and salty experience.

Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • baking sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the pretzel twists evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly for about 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the butter toffee mixture evenly over the pretzels.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let sit for a few minutes to soften, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the pretzels. If using nuts, sprinkle them on top along with a pinch of sea salt. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
